Building a user community for the new BTN BikeShare scheme.
Our goal was for Brighton to take the new bike share scheme to its heart. We wanted to forge a genuine sense of ownership and responsibility between the scheme and the city’s residents.
First of all, we organised a high profile launch and provided the city with trained Life Bike ambassadors offering face-to-face support at key docking stations. Our subsequent campaign targeted key local, regional and national outlets with stories, and educational content. We also created and maintained BTN BikeShare’s social media platforms to help form genuine one-on-one connections with residents and visitors.
Between June and September, 89 dedicated BTN BikeShare articles were generated. Highlights included 11 segments and interviews on ITV Meridian and BBC Sussex, as well as articles in the Mail on Sunday, This is Money, the Guardian and the Independent.
The scheme received 9,000 registrations in the first month, the most successful of any Hourbike scheme.
“We came in knowing Brighton & Hove is a unique city with a strong cycling culture, but the usage figures are even better than we could have imagined! None of our other schemes across UK and Europe have had such a strong first month.”
