Burning the clocks 2017 has raised over £19,000 – the largest amount raised in the event’s history.
The volunteer-led bucket collection on the night of the event gathered £5,412.67 whilst the crowdfunder exceeded its target and raised £5,698 from 115 individuals.
Brighton’s business sponsors also provided more support than ever this year, contributing £8,053 to the cost of the event. ARKA Original Funerals donated £4,000 by paying for 25 ‘In Memory’ lanterns. The lanterns were made by friends and families in group workshops and carried as part of the parade, to remember a loved one who had recently died.
Local restaurant, The Chilli Pickle and their customers raised £4,053 from donations by diners throughout December plus a personal contribution from the business owners.
