Burning the Clocks 2016 hits first crowdfunding target

Every year, Fugu supports Brighton-based charity Same Sky in fundraising for the annual Burning the Clocks lantern parade. This year’s crowdfunding campaign has already hit its initial £5,000 target, and with over two weeks left, the next goal is to reach £7,000 to help secure the event for next year.

Burning the Clocks is an integral part of the city’s winter calendar, however the event receives no guaranteed funding. Same Sky is increasingly reliant on the support of businesses such as Arka Original Funerals  (who have this year sponsored 100 ‘In Memory’ lanterns) as well as the generosity of the local community to secure the parade’s future.

We urge anyone who has enjoyed Burning the Clocks, this very special community led celebration of the winter solstice which is widely recognised as one of the UK’s best Christmas events, to support the crowdfunder or donate a pound or two into the buckets on the night.
